Symposium on National Green Development Strategy and Talent Cultivation for Landscape Architecture
2:30 pm, November 23, 2020, Symposium on National Green Development Strategy and Talent Cultivation for Landscape Architecture was held by the School of Architecture and Design in Hall D100. Attending the meeting were Fu Yanrong, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture; Shen Zhongwei, Executive Dean of School of Architecture and Design; Yang Chunjuan, Deputy Dean of School of Architecture and Design; Fu Ya, Dean of Department of Landscape Architecture; Zhou Sixiang, Deputy Dean of Department of Landscape Architecture and teachers and postgraduates from the Department of Landscape Architecture. The symposium was hosted by Executive Dean Shen Zhongwei.
As the host, Mr. Shen first delivered a welcome speech, where he gave a brief introduction on the connection between the school’s talent cultivation for landscape architecture and the national green development strategy in the perspective of the opportunities and challenges facing the school, the disciplinary positioning and construction, and the development goal and talent cultivation.
Then, a speech was given by Mr. Fu Yanrong, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture (CHSLA). He is too a senior engineer, director of Business Department of CHSLA, member of Technical Committee for Standardization of CHSLA. In his report, he elaborated on the development of CHSLA, including its development in landscape architecture industry, the establishment of standardization, discipline construction and future planning, and talent cultivation. He also shared the gist of the CHSLA annual meeting that just closed in Chengdu, and talked about the philosophy of building park cities with the example of the city of Chengdu. He then expressed the CHSLA’s support and concern for the discipline construction of the school, and fully recognized the contributions that the school had made to the 2020 CHSLA annual meeting.
Executive Dean Shen Zhongwei responded positively to the speech by Mr. Fu. He pointed out, the school had been actively supporting teachers from the Department of Landscape Architecture interacting with the CHSLA, and he hoped to see more exchanges and closer cooperation between the school and CHSLA. He suggested that the school should respond quickly to the lasted development and strategy of the CHSLA, and make contribution to the talent pool building and talent cultivation in the region as well as the development of the CHSLA and the discipline of Landscape Architecture.
Finally, Prof. Shen delivered a concluding speech. He summarized the topics discussed in the symposium and acknowledged the discipline construction and talent cultivation of the Department of Landscape Architecture of the College. He hoped that in the future, the talent cultivation for landscape and architecture will closely follow the national green development strategy, and that the School of Architecture and Design, while shouldering social responsibilities, will make due contribution to landscape architecture industry in western region and throughout the country. Teachers of the Department of Landscape Architecture expressed that they would better integrate national development strategies and policies into their profession so as to achieve greater professional and disciplinary breakthroughs.
